Le digital, un nouveau défi pour l’écologie

La pandémie a fortement accéléré la transformation digitale nous poussant à trouver de nouvelles solutions pour communiquer, consommer, travailler, nous informer et nous divertir. Au-delà de ces nouveaux usages digitaux, la crise a également fait évoluer nos mentalités sur l’urgence écologique. Toutefois, il demeure un secteur dont nous ne soupçonnons pas l’impact : le digital. Celui-ci est à l’origine d’une pollution invisible engendrée par 4 milliards d’utilisateurs depuis une trentaine d’années : la pollution numérique.

Si Internet était un pays, il serait le 3ème pays le plus pollueur derrière la Chine et les Etats-Unis. Un chiffre qui inquiète mais qui n’est pas sans solution.  Pour lutter contre ce phénomène, l’écologie digitale a vu le jour 3 ans auparavant. Un mouvement et courant de pensée introduits par Inès Leonarduzzi, fondatrice de l’ONG Digital for the Planet.

Comment le digital pollue-t-il la planète ? Quel est le lien entre la transformation numérique et la transition écologique ? Ces deux concepts sont-ils antinomiques ?
