À l’ère de la transformation numérique, le féminisme a pris un tout autre tournant. Il est devenu ce qu’on appelle le féminisme digital. Face aux inégalités qui persistent, les nouvelles générations s’emparent des réseaux sociaux pour défendre l’égalité des sexes. Mais, d’où cela provient-il ?
La vague #MeToo, pionnière dans l’avènement du féminisme digital
Pour rappel, c’est en octobre 2017 qu’Hollywood est secoué par un scandale : Harvey Weinstein, célèbre producteur américain, est accusé d’agressions sexuelles sur plusieurs femmes. C’est alors qu’Alyssa Milano, actrice américaine et victime, lance sur Twitter un tweet où elle invite les femmes à répondre #MeToo (« moi aussi »), si elles aussi ont subi des agressions sexuelles.
Et les chiffres parlent d’eux-mêmes : plus de 60 000 messages font écho à son tweet dans les jours qui suivent.
En quelques semaines, ce mouvement social digitalisé recense 3 millions de tweets via #MeToo.
Cette accumulation de récits sur les réseaux sociaux démontre que le harcèlement sexuel ne concerne pas que les femmes d’Hollywood. Mais, il touche toutes les femmes du monde et il représente une réalité massive et tragique.
Par conséquent, #MeToo est passé de phénomène viral à un vrai mouvement social féminin. Et c’est dans cette continuité que de nouveaux moyens de communication féministes ont vu le jour.
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter : les portes paroles digitaux
À la suite de ce scandale, c’est un florilège de comptes engagés qui naissent sur la toile !
La situation est claire : Twitter a permis aux femmes humiliées, violées et agressées de se faire entendre. Le tout dans la plus grande solidarité. C’est alors que des jeunes femmes militantes, maîtrisant parfaitement les codes des réseaux sociaux et conscientes de leur impact, créent des comptes féministes pour continuer d’éveiller les consciences.
La troisième vague du féminisme est bien réelle et hyper-connectée. En d’autres termes, elle vit au rythme des clics, des stories Instagram, des commentaires, des tweets et vidéos Facebook qui offrent un tout nouveau champ des possibles. Pourquoi cela marche ? Parce que le relais de ces informations est beaucoup plus rapide, engageant et surtout fédérateur !
En bref, on assiste à une véritable rupture entre les usages traditionnels des féministes du XXe siècle et celles du XXIe siècle.

C’est dans la continuité du mouvement #MeToo qu’est né #NousToutes.
Tout au long de l’année, ce compte recense et poste sur les réseaux chaque féminicide commis en France.
Son but ? Lutter contre les violences faites aux femmes. Mais, ce compte va au-delà du digital. Il prend vie dans les rues par une manifestation organisée chaque novembre.
De plus, c’est par la force des réseaux sociaux que #NousToutes a rassemblé 50 000 personnes en 2018 et 150 000 en 2019. La marée violette ne cesse de prendre de l’ampleur, et ça, on dit oui !

Pour résumer, je dirais que les réseaux sociaux sont des armes qui ont la capacité illimitée de soutenir des causes fondamentales. Autrement dit, ils ont permis et permettent d’éveiller les consciences sur tous les sujets propres au féminisme. Et qui surtout, je l’espère, pourront mettre fin aux inégalités.
