Mardi 12 Janvier 2021 : DarkMarket, l’une des plus grosses plateformes du darkweb vient d’être démantelée par Europol (Agence Européenne de lutte contre la criminalité) et avec l’aide d’une coalition internationale (Allemagne, Australie, Danemark, Moldavie, Ukraine, Royaume-Uni et USA).  En effet, les autorités ont mis le site hors ligne. Puis ont saisi plus de 20 serveurs qui servaient à son fonctionnement à la suite d’une enquête menée par des enquêteurs allemands. Pour finir, elles ont pu arrêter le responsable présumé.

DarkMarket était une plateforme sur laquelle on retrouvait des vendeurs qui proposaient des drogues, des fausses cartes de crédits volées ou fabriquées et autres logiciels malveillants. Elle comptait près de 500 000 utilisateurs et plus de 2400 vendeurs.

« Plus de 320000 transactions en cryptomonnaies avaient pu y être effectuées avec de plus de 4 650 bitcoins et 12 800 moneros, soit l’équivalent de 140 millions d’euros  » selon Europol.  DarkMarket était donc la plus importante place de marché illégale au monde sur le darkweb.

Pour accéder au darkweb, il est nécessaire de se servir de logiciels spécifiques qui permettent à l’utilisateur d’y entrer de façon anonyme. Le réseau TOR est l’un des plus connus.

Jusqu’à encore quelques années, l’accès au darkweb était encore difficile, mais aujourd’hui son accès est fortement démocratisé. Cependant, pour échapper aux autorités les forums changent souvent d’adresses et de noms.

Alors comment lutter contre ces actes illégaux ? 

Aujourd’hui, les autorités mettent en place des moyens humains, juridiques et techniques pour tenter de faire disparaitre ce réseau illicite. Les méthodes alors utilisées par les experts ressemblent fortement aux techniques utilisées par les hackers : ils analysent le code des sites illégaux pour rechercher des éventuelles failles de sécurité. Et quand ils ont l’air suspects, ils intègrent des malwares pour essayer de détruire l’anonymat du réseau et démasquer les créateurs de ces sites interdits.

Grâce à Europol et à Interpol, la police française est aussi en collaboration avec les polices européennes et internationales. De nombreux pays décident donc de s’allier pour multiplier les chances de lutte contre la cybercriminalité.

Ces dernières années, les autorités ont réussi à démanteler de nombreux sites  et elles parviennent quand même à retrouver les auteurs de ceux-ci. Cependant, à l’heure actuelle il est encore difficile de se prononcer sur la longévité du Darkweb puisque les sites pululent : quand un site ferme, d’autres rouvrent par la suite. Le marché est bel et bien présent puisqu’il y a de l’offre et de la demande. C’est donc un travail titanesque pour les autorités.

Alors même si cela reste compliqué d’établir une date de fin au Darkweb, les autorités continuent de mettre en place des systèmes pour tenter de l’éradiquer. Alors chaque chose en son temps…

En tout cas, le darkweb n’est pas prêt de disparaître.
