3D Transformation for Retail & Luxury – Conference organized by SiaXperience, POWER.xyz (ex-METAV.RS), and Institut Français de la Mode

As a tech enthusiast, especially when it comes to immersive experiences, and a fashion lover, I was thrilled to attend the event dedicated to the publication of the white paper on the impact of 3D technology on industry transformation.

Professor and researcher in digital technologies at the IFM Dr. Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro, Chanel Innovation Program Manager Sikaar Keita, and the Co-Founder of POWER.xyz Simon Foucher discussed the transformational impact and current trends related to 3D technologies. The discussion was moderated by Charles Lonjaret, the Emerging Tech Lead at SiaXperience.

PUBLIC TALK HIGHLIGHTS

Sikaar Keita:
– The advent of 3D technology has revolutionized our workflow, allowing for quicker modeling, creation, and marketing of content. Previously, high-quality shoots or even visualizing a product could take a month or more.
– AI and 3D technology go hand-in-hand, with AI making it easier to produce three-dimensional images with complex details like lighting effects.
– Consumption of 3D content is evolving with devices like Apple Vision Pro and AR glasses, although these are not mainstream. However, powerful smartphones are the key instrument for the widespread public to consume complex and heavy content.
– There is a need to evangelize the use of 3D technology, including within internal teams, as it allows us to showcase ideas visually rather than merely discussing them.

Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro:
– IFM creates courses that teach students to empower creativity and transcend the physical world by integrating 3D technology into gaming, advertising, and other industries.
– In social gaming platforms like Roblox, brands such as Gucci and Prada are utilizing 3D. These volumetric assets serve as triggers to extend beyond physical products, embracing the concept of phygitality.
– Younger generations are more inclined to shop when they see AR assets. 3D modeling creates a new economy of wearable items in virtual worlds.

Simon Foucher:
– 3D technology addresses the need of brands to create experiences that significantly boost conversion rates.
– With the advent of 5G, we are witnessing the active rise of immersive experiences.
– For e-commerce sites, memorable and engaging 3D experiences can significantly increase the average basket size. In fashion, immersive assets might led to a 10-20% increase in conversion rates.
