L’association Espoir SLA est née il y a plus de 4 ans, en 2016. Fondée par 3 frères : Grégoire, Maxime et Simon. Cette association se bat contre la Sclérose Latérale Amyotrophique, plus communément appelé maladie de Charcot, dont souffre leur papa : David. C’est en 2016, lorsque le diagnostic tombe que cette fratrie souhaite faire connaître cette maladie bien trop méconnue, qui touche 1 personne sur 25000. Ils décident alors de créer Espoir SLA. Très présents sur les manifestations sportives, ceux sont aussi les réseaux sociaux qui font connaître l’initiative des 3 frères.
C’est notamment grâce à Facebook et Instagram que l’association gagne en notoriété. Aujourd’hui Espoir SLA c’est plus de 6000 abonnées sur Instagram et presque 8000 sur Facebook. Espoir SLA possède également un e-shop (vêtements, accessoires, …) dont une partie des fonds récoltés est utilisée pour la recherche médicale car aucun traitement n’existe pour le moment. En plus des publications, du e-shop, des évènements sportifs … l’association propose des lives sur les réseaux sociaux depuis le confinement, une manière d’échanger et de sensibiliser à distance. La famille de David compte bien continuer de toucher les esprits à travers les réseaux et leurs publications.

Cette maladie neurodégénérative est caractérisée par la dégénérescence progressive des muscles et du cortex cérébral. David est actuellement en fauteuil, il ne peut plus bouger, ni parler. En 2018, l’association lance un appel aux dons pour aider à leur papa à mieux communiquer. L’association récolte alors suffisamment de fonds pour acheter un ordinateur équipé du logiciel Grid3 et une barre Tobii. Cette barre capte la rétine de David et telle une souris, elle lui permet de maitriser l’ordinateur avec le simple usage de ses yeux. Grâce à cette installation, David garde un contact permanent avec sa femme et ses fils. Un outil digital unique qui permet une meilleure communication au sein de la famille.

Espoir SLA c’est l’exemple que les réseaux sociaux, le e-commerce et les outils digitaux peuvent participer et favoriser le développement de magnifiques projets pour défendre des combats profondément humains. Sans tous ces moyens de communication et sans cette présence sur Internet, Espoir SLA serait surement beaucoup plus dans l’ombre. Sans ces outils, David ne pourrait communiquer avec ceux qu’il aime le plus au monde, le digital améliore alors son combat pour la vie.
Les réseaux sociaux ont aussi permis à l’association de se faire connaître au delà des frontières, une véritable opportunité en termes de notoriété.
